Hindi Film industry with its center in Bollywood just same like as their compatriot Indian Inc is trying to establish its impact over global cinema as the latter one has done while acquiring business firms in foreign land.
Activities like Anil Ambani’s deal to buy Speilberg’s Dream Works SKG; Walt Disney’s dominant share in UTV Software Communications Ltd. is example of increasing influence of Bollywood industry, internationally. Ambani indicated interest of Indian Inc when he signed agreement to provide finances to production houses owned by Jim Carrey, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt and Nicolas cage. And subprime market crisis in USA has led these production houses to welcome foreign money in Hollywood.
Ambani’s this tie up with Dream Works SKG and other production houses is expected to yield up to 30 script of which at least 10 will go finally into production. Apart from Hollywood Ambani is interested in entertainment industry in United States as he has acquired 200 theatres there.
This was merely one side of the picture, the other one is of outsourcing by Hollywood companies from India, due to her exceptional skills in software development. As the animation or the specials effect part of the movie due to expertise services occurs to be quite cheaper in India.
The fact is well reflected through the example of India being place for animation outsourcing with example of 50 Indians being part of the animation team of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia.’ The 30 percent of the work for Hulk has also been done over here in India. An half an hour animated movie in India cost $ 60, 000 where as in USA it costs round to $ 2,50, 000 to $4,00, 000.
There are many companies including Walt Disney Pictures, Time Warner’s Cartoon Network Enterprise and Sony Pictures Entertainment which have started outsourcing job from top quality computer programmers and animators or local set up local operations.
No doubt, this mixture of finance through hands of like Ambanis and excellence of Talent through hands of animators and software professional will surely benefit Bollywood as well as Hollywood.

Farhan Akhtar pins his hopes on ‘Rock On’
With India’s leading production house, Excel Entertainment, producer-director Farhan Akhtar marks his debut as an actor in ‘Rock On’. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai, Purab Kohli, Sahana Goswami and Luke Kenny in the lead. The film is about a rock band which was the greatest in the country but they never make it and how a long drawn reunion helps them achieve their musical ambitions. Bollywood’s principal independent PR agency Dale Bhagwagar Media Group is handling the media exercises for the film.
Writing on Facebook, Farhan says,
“I am really impressed by how many people recall the guitar riff from Lakshya in the Rock On!! track. The riff was stuck in my mind since first recorded in 2004 and we thought this would be the best outlet for it. As the lyrics say “Ye mauka nahin milega dubaara’.”
He adds,
“Rock has very rarely been served up in Indian films without the necessary “filmi sound” embellishments. With this movie, we are attempting to push the envelope and take Rock… Real Rock… and make it the basis for the soundtrack. It’s been an amazing experience putting it together and if the journey was this exciting, I’m sure the destination will be fantastic! The music will be out in mid-July.”
Luke Kenny comments,
“I am sure everyone will enjoy watching it as much as we had a blast making it…this is India’s first Rock N Roll Hindi film so wait and see.”
As ‘Rock On’ hits theatres on August 29 this year, what we are waiting for is the debut of the cute TV bahu Prachi Desai making it on the big screens.
Ranbir Kapoor shakes it with three beauties
That Ranbir Kapoor gets to romance three lovely ladies in director Siddhartha Anand’s ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is a stale one now. The latest addition is that the deadly trio together with Ranbir has shot a promotional number for the movie.
Choreographed by Ahmed Khan, the number has Ranbir jiving with the three ladies of the film – Deepika Padukone, Minissha Lamba and Bipasha Basu. To be known here that the three ladies are not sharing the share screen space in the film but are appearing together only in this promotional track.
The song has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar and has interesting facts related to it. The song uses the original opening lines of the famous song “Bachna Ae Haseeno” from Rishi Kapoor’s film ‘Hum Kissi Se Kam Nahin’. Where Kishore Kumar had sung the original one for Rishi Kapoor in 1977, Kishoreda’s son Sumeet has sung the song with similar title for Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir Kapoor in this movie.
At first, Ranbir was supposed to sing this song but the idea was dropped later. Hope the father’s song does wonders for son’s film.

Miss World (Tourism) and former Miss India Sonal Chauhan had done a long chain of endorsements before being discovered by Bhatts for ‘Jannat’. To name a few there are - Lays (with Saif Ali Khan), Pepsi (with John Abrams), Ponds, Hero Honda, Nokia, and …. and… several big brands.

Saif Ali Khan to play a terrorist
When it comes to the choice of roles, Saif Ali Khan has done a variety of them from chocolate lover boy to the mean ‘Langra Tyagi’ in ‘Omkara’. And now, he has been offered a very challenging role indeed- the role of a terrorist. The film is written and is to be directed by Rensil D’Silva, who is the script writer of the block buster “Rang De Basanti”. The script was liked by Karan Johar so much, that he has agreed to produce it. And to add spice to the meaty offer, Saif will be romancing her new found passion, Kareena Kapoor herself.
Says a source close to the film,
“The story is a far cry from the usual Karan’s films. There will be no designer glam sham or naach gaana. It is a hard-hitting subject. Karan loved Rensil’s script so much that he decided to produce it. He also gave Rensil the freedom to choose the actors to justify his script. That’s how Rensil decided to cast Saif. He plays a meticulous and urban-educated terrorist. There is also an interesting romantic track between him and the leading lady, Kareena,”
adds the source.

Meet the Khiladi Akshay Kumar in his new rugged and rough and tough look for his reality show ‘Fear Factor- Khatron Ke Khiladi’. Keeping in toe with the script and his action hero personality, Akshay Kumar has styled his look to be absolutely unconventional and defiant.

Dia Mirza’s menacing look in ‘Acid Factory’
In her forthcoming Suparn Verma’s flick ‘Acid Factory’, Dia will be seen in a glam-chic avatar. Says Suparn,
“The idea was to reinvent Dia and give her a never-before look. Her dresses, her mannerisms and the way she is going to appear in the film are extremely novel. New Delhi-based designer duo Nikhil-Shantanu are styling her.”
To be known here that Dia is the only female lead in the film. The male cast includes Fardeen Khan, Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Dino Morea, Aftab Shivdasani and Danny Denzongpa. Knowing that female characters generally play the least part in Gupta’s movies, it was obviously speculated that here too Dia would not be anything better than a glam-doll. Mallika Sherawat Ready To Set Fire Again
Bollywood’s hottie Mallika Sherawat alone is more than capable of setting the pulses racing. But what happens when hot singer Hard Kaur (whose name rhymes with ‘hardcore’) tags along. Sexplosion. That’s exactly what we can expect from Mallika’s upcoming film Ugly Aur Pagli that has Ranvir Shorey playing the hot belle’s nerdy, goofy boyfriend.
There’s a song in the film that goes by the title “Main Talli Ho Gayi”. The number comes in a scene when Mallika goes to a bar with Ranvir and gets drunk before hitting the dance floor. Hard Kaur, who is known for singing Bhangra songs in a peculiarly English twang, not just sings the track but also features in the song along with Mallika. The two bombshells reportedly shake their legs (perhaps much more) together on the dance floor in the track. Composed by Anu Malik , the song also features Malik’s daughter Anmol and Punjabi singer Mika.
Hard Kaur previously appeared in the promotional track of Johnny Gaddaar . The uninhibited singer has recently been spotted at various dos and parties in Mumbai where she has actually been seen getting talli along with her friends. While shooting a song for Singh Is Kinng, hottest actress of bollywood, Katrina Kaif was asked to do a dance step that made her not just shy but uncomfortable. The actress was wearing a low-neck dress that was also very short from below.
The dance step, choreographed by Remo, reportedly required Katrina to bend forward and shake her body. The actress apparently found the dance vulgar and was in two minds about doing it.
But the choreographer took her into confidence. He made his female assistant do the same step in front of Katrina to make her feel at ease. And when Katrina was comfortable, she herself rehearsed the step a few times before shooting it.
Remo says the dance step is one of the highlights of the song.

Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor, two of Bollywood’s leading heroines, will be seen matching steps for the first time in Kareena-Salman’s latest flick, ‘Main Aur Mrs. Khanna.’ However, Preity will be seen only in a guest appearance in just one song which will have Salman Khan joining her and Bebo on the dance floor. Produced under the banner of Sohail Khan Productions and UTV Motion Pictures, the film is being directed by debutante Prem R. Soni. Apart from Salman and Kareena, the film also stars Govinda and Sohail Khan. Sajid-Wajid have given the musical scores for the film.
‘Horn Ok Pleassss’ - Movie Preview
‘Horn Ok Pleassss’ is a comedy flick starring Nana Patekar, Rimi Sen and Muzammil Ibrahim. The film portrays the sotry of a simple- hearted down-to-earth truck tycoon named Govinda (Nana Patekar). He loves his wife (Rimi Sen) dearly. The comedy starts gearing up when he saves the life of a heartbroken suicidal photographer Ajay (Muzammil Ibraim). Ajay tells him that he loves a married woman, and not knowing that the woman is his wife, Govinda advises him to kill the husband. To add to the humour, he chalks out the murder plan himself. The confusion reaches its climax when Ajay’s look-alike, Rocky, appears in the scene. What follows is utter confusion, madness and loads of laughter.
Produced by Abdol Samee Siddique and directed by Rakesh Sarang, the film promises to be a total ‘paisa vasool’. Hope it sets the cash registers ringing for the entire team!
Mr. Ambani needs to be alert before investing into the Hollywood
The Love Guru that is to be released in America this weekend is filmed around Indian stereotypes and its people. If the history of Indian characters is seen through the Indian movies then in most of the cases, the characters are portrayed as figures of funs. But soon, the things may change for Bollywood fraternity and they would be the objects of reverence as a major Indian entertainment company is on the cards to finance a new film company with Steven Spielberg.
According to media news Mr Spielberg and his partner David Geffen are in talks to make a new Hollywood film production company with Reliance Big Entertainment, a media group headed by Indian billionaire industrialist, Anil Ambani. Both Spielberg and Mr Geffen are one of the founders of Dream Works, which is a part of media group Viacom, however, it is expected that very soon they will disassociate them from the group.
In case, every thing goes well then Reliance Big Entertainment would pump $500 million in Hollywood. Reliance’s this move happened one month after Reliance signed series of bold production contract with George Clooney and Brad Pitt at the Cannes film festival. But Mr A Ambani needs to learn from the earlier experiences of other international investors who tried to make big image after investing heavily in Hollywood before making invest into the market. One media executive expressed his opinion for investing in Hollywood, “Hollywood has a long, distinguished record of eating up foreigners and then spitting them out.”
This trend of foreign investment in the Hollywood started in 1980s from the Japanese electronic that in order to increase the sales of it is betaformat equipments invested $ 3.4 bn to buy Columbia Pictures and its sister company Tri-star. The renamed Sony Pictures Entertainment under Jon Peters and Peter Guber the renowned producer from the fresh success of hit movies – Batman and Rain Man- produced many flopped films and finally after 5 years Sony wrote off the acquisition with $ 3 bn in losses.
After Sony it was Matsushita who MCA Universal – later renamed Universal Studios but failed same like as Sony, then after it Jean-Marie Messier, the flamboyant former chief of Vivendi, the French utility, invested in Hollywood buying Seagram, but his dream ended in failure as had to quit from the company’s board of directors and company. Hopefully, Ambani may be fortunate enough than his earlier predecessors.

How was the experience of being a jury member for a television festival in Shanghai?
It was very interesting. There was all kind of cinema present. The jury constituted of people talented in various fields of film making from all over the world. It did not seem like there was any kind of a language barrier as the only language people spoke was cinema. The invitation was a big surprise and an even bigger surprise was the overwhelming reception I received there. Everybody knew who I was! It was a great honour. I was not just the only Indian but also the youngest jury member.
As a TV and film actress yourself, does it make you proud to see Indian actors being recognised in other countries as well?
Extremely proud. Keeping in mind the diversity and size of this country, we also have the capability and are churning out world class talents in different genres.

In films, one gets a chance to work on a big canvas. But it’s television that got me the recognition and I could make the transition to the big screen. Not keeping in mind the medium, as an actor in love with her job, I would love to work on projects that bring out the best in me and help me grow in dimensions as a versatile actor.
Talking about Bollywood, you’re doing a couple of interesting films, tell us about them?
My next movie in line for release is Via Darjeeling, starring Kay Kay Menon, Sonali Kulkarni, Parvin Dabas, Simone Singh, Rajat Kapoor and directed by Arindham Nandy.
What makes you go for a certain role, whether in TV or films?
I would never like to be stereotyped. A scope to perform, interesting role, script are of utmost importance and obviously the filmmaker.
You’re one of the few actresses on screen who’s managed to look the same even after all these years, any secrets?
There are no secrets. I am a straight-forward individual. There is no negativity in me. Infact, Sandhya is a very positive person.

Aish & Sanjay Back After A Long Time
Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were last seen together in the movie Shabd. Though the film, directed by debutant Leena Yadav, was a flop, their onscreen chemistry worked quite well. The jodi also got great response because of some of the close scenes between Aish and Sanju Baba.
Now, the pair will be seen again on screen, in Mani Ratnam’s next. The film will also star Abhishek Bachchan.
Incidentally, Sanjay was not the director’s first choice. He had first chosen Tamil actor, Vikram. But he roped in Sanjay because he wanted a more popular face.
Apparently, Sanjay accepted the film immediately when Mani asked him. He even juggled his dates, and walked out of a T-series’s film to make way for Mani’s film.
The T-series film, a romantic comedy, was to star Sanjay opposite Kangana Ranaut. It is directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who directed the Salman Khan-starrer Lucky. We hope that Mani Ratnam succedds to give a blockbuster this time.

Amisha Patel Sizzles in Lazy Lamhe
“Well, whether I am looking sexy or not, you have to watch the film, but yes for the first time I am wearing clothes that I never wore before,” says the sultry actress, who made her acting debut with the blockbuster Kaho Na Pyar Hai in 2000. “This song is really hot and will be the turning point of the film. You will see much more of me. My character Mallaika is different, but entertaining in this movie,” she says.
Amisha, who has stayed away from the big screen for quite sometime, will be seen together with Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan. This film would also be the first time that Amisha and Saif Ali Khan would be seen together on-screen.
The beautiful actress also declined that she is following the ‘dare bare’ trend set by other actresses like Soha Ali Khan who posed for a magazine shoot or Kareena Kapoor who was seen in a sexy bikini avatar in Yash Raj’s recently released Tashan.
“No, it has no connection with all those dare bare trend going on in Bollywood,” she clarifies adding that “It was the demand of the character.” The actress claimed that her character in the movie has a different body language and mannerism and it will certainly create an impact among cine lovers.
“It is one of the very different character I am enacting as I had to learn certain acts of mannerisms,” says Amisha.
The actress, who has won the best female debut at the 2000 Zee Cine awards for Kaho Naa.. Pyaar Hai and the Filmfare Special Performance award for Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in 2001 has not been seen since her last movie Bhool Bhulaiyaa in October last year where she was cast opposite Akshay Kumar.
This is Kunal Kohli’s fourth directorial venture after Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Hum Tum and Fanaa, and the actress is all upbeat about its success.
“It will definitely click with cine lovers,” she says.

Preity Zinta On Her World Tour With The Bachchans
Preity Zinta who is just like a livewire wherever she goes says that she won’t be overshadowed by the Bachchans in the unforgettable tour beginning on 18 July. To inform you Preity Zinta is also a part of the show.
“It is a fact that the show is a Bachchan family show as there are three of them. I am friends with them and have enjoyed working with Amitji and Abhishek. Aishwarya is a friend,” Preity told reporters in Mumbai.
Preity said the tour has come at an opportune time for her as she needed to unwind from the hectic IPL season. According to her, the unique concept of the guest stars has been introduced for the first time.
“I know Akshay Kumar well. Madhuri Dixit is my senior while I will get to know Shilpa Shetty well on the UK leg of the tour. I think I will have fun,” she said.
Preity said Wizcraft was working on the concept. “All of us Bachchans, myself and Ritesh Deshmukh had some biggest hits. With Akshay opening the show in Toronto, Canada, lot of action and fireworks are expected,” she said.
Replying to a question, Preity said she had not quit the Shahrukh Khan led “Temptations” world tour.
“We had fun on Temptations with Rani Mukherjee , Saif Ali Khan and Shah Rukh. I have not quit it. In fact, I came to know recently that there is one show of Temptations in Amsterdam next month,” she said.

Amitabh Bachchan - The sexiest vegetarian Asian male
Hardly is there anyone who would differ with this title that has been given to veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) after conducting a survey. Yes, the title is that of the Asia’s sexiest vegetarian male.
Touching that dreadful age line of 60 and already a proud grandfather, Amitabh still retains his charisma and magnetism. In the poll that was conducted by PETA, among other Asian contenders in the running, besides Amitabh, Madhavan was the only Indian contender. Among the Asian female contenders Bollywood actresses like Hema Malini, Kareena Kapoor, Mahima Chaudhry and Vidya Balan were considered. However, it was Hong Kong’s singer-actress Faye Wong who was voted as Asia’s sexiest vegetarian female.
The director of Peta in Asia-Pacific region said,
“Going vegetarian is the best thing you can do for animals, the earth and your health. Plus there’s no easier way to stay slim and sexy — and Faye and Amitabh are living proof.”
Dia Mirza as the angel for Arshad Warsi
Arshad Warsi is all geared up for his first home production which is go on floors in London in July. The film to be directed by Kabeer Kaushik is titled ‘I Believe In Angels…’
Arshad had a tough time finding the leading lady for his film coz all the big heroines were apprehensive of being paired with Arshad in the lead role. Arshad, no doubt, is a very talented actor, but he has not been able to make it big with lead roles. Finally, the chase ended with Dia Mirza who not only suits the role but was also too glad to be a part of it.
Talking about the film, Dia said,
“First of all, I’ve always enjoyed Arshad’s performances and it’s an honor to be in a film to be produced by him. Then when I heard the script I simply fell in love with my role and the script. Every character is so beautifully written, I’m sure Arshad’s first production is going to turn out to be very special.”

Sylvester Stallone in ‘Kambakth Ishq’

This is a horror flick from Ram Gopal Verma. Under the banner of One More Thought Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., ‘Phoonk’ is set to release on August 22nd.
The movie revolves round a confirmed atheist whose belief systems are shaken up when his loved ones are subjected to horrifying experiences, the ones which cannot be explained in any rational manner. It is also the story of a fanatical devotee who is forced to turn her back on God because of her traumatic experiences. Though a horror film, this one is quite different from film like ‘Bhoot’ because the fear does not lie in sheer existence of ghosts, but the fear seeps into you and plagues your entire belief system thereby making you highly vulnerable and will also put you into an emotional state wherein you would start fearing the most inane objects which you would normally take for granted in the daily course of life.
So, if you are someone who has a weak heart, if the film gives you goose flesh, don’t say that we did not warn you…
‘Golmaal Returns’ promised to be funnier than Golmaal
‘Golmaal Returns’ is the sequel of the movie produced in 2006 and is funnier than the earlier one as told by director of the movie Rohit Shetty. In ‘Golmaal Returns’ Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor and Arshad Warsi are in the same cast, however Shreyas Talpade would take over the role as originally played by the Sharman Joshi in Golmaal of 2006.
Kareena Kapoor has replaced Rimi Sen in the movie and other new casts of the movie are Anjana Sukhani, Amrita Arora and Celina Jaitley. After Omkara, in 2006, Ajay Devgan is paired opposite to Kareena in ‘Golmaal Returns.’ Let’s hope everything will goes well with Golmaal Returns.

SRK and Big B - The war continues…
The war between Bollywood biggies seems to be getting dirtier day by day. Earlier it used to be catfights between heroines, but now, the gossip columns have more of heroes getting into fights and controversial statements.
The cold war between Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan has deep roots attached to it. The latest addition to this is from Shahrukh Khan. It so happened that director Aditya Chopra had planned an 11 minute song for his forthcoming ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. The song sung by Sonu Nigam will pay a tribute to the top Bollywood actors since 1950, showcasing some of their most memorable numbers.
Shahrukh was supposed to mimic all these actors in the song, but though SRK went down well with Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, and Rajesh Khanna, he refused to dance to Amitabh Bachchan’s songs. He reasoned that media will unnecessarily create controversies with his dancing to Big B’s numbers and that won’t be in the favor of the film. So adamant was SRK with his point Aditya was then forced to remove the Amitabh Bachchan segments, replacing them with Rishi Kapoor.

Mika Singh’s birthday bash sans Rakhi and sans kiss this year
Mika Singh’s birthday bash had created a lot of kiss-miss controversies some years back. This year Mika’s birthday bash concluded sans kiss, sans controversy and of course, sans Rakhi Sawant.
Nonetheless, there were lot of known faces from the glamour world enjoying themselves to the fullest at the party. Sonu Niigaam was there along with young Aditya Narayan. Also present were Bali Brahmbhatt and the Meet Brothers — Manmeet and Harmeet, along with Siddharth Kannan. Ronit Roy and wife Neelam made a late entry. Jay Bhanushali and co-star Shabbir Ahluwalia were also seen enjoying themselves.
The DJ set hit the right notes with all of Mika’s cool numbers. The flamboyant and fun-loving birthday boy played the perfect host and took good care of his guests.
Rahul Bose and his passion for rugby
Rahul Bose stands out among all the male Bollywood stars not just because of his acting talents, but also because of his passion for rugby. Now, he is going to be the first rugby player from Bollywood to play for an upcoming international rugby tournament in Bangkok. So, now he is all absorbed in his training for the tournament and has halted all film shoots in his quest for rugby glory. 2008 will be his eleventh year as a rugby player.
When it comes to rugby, Rahul doesn’t mind the broken fingers and nose that he suffers during tournaments. Speaking of the injuries he has suffered, Rahul said, “I have had two major arthroscopies, six broken fingers, including two shattered thumbs and three broken noses. The most serious one was when dirt was kicked violently into my eyes. I almost lost my eyesight because there were 210 pieces of stones stuck in the corneas of both my eyes.”
“Rugby is a pleasure as well as a passion,” he says. “Though rugby is not a renowned sport in India, I would love to make a film on it someday,” he adds. We hope that your dream comes true soon!
Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan - No dance ‘Konnection’?
Shahid Kapoor got a taste of Vidya Balan’s dancing skills while shooting for a promotional video at the Film City for their forthcoming ‘Kismat Konnection’. Though Vidya is a traditional dancer, she finds it difficult learning western steps. With as many as 47 retakes, no doubt choreographer Ahmed Khan was irked but Shahid asked him to keep his cool.
With Vidya in a plunging neckline and black leggings and Shahid in a pair of hot grey pants, satin shirt and a striking blue tie, the couple did look gorgeous. But though the couple is rumored to have developed intimate ‘Konnection’ while shooting for ‘Kismat Konnection’, the dance ‘Konnection’ sure seemed to be missing!

Yes, this time it was the turn of Kareena and Saif Ali Khan who was quizzed by SRK and brigade at gradually heating up reality show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai as to prove one more intelligent than a fifth class student.
This time at the show, it was the King Khan who was challenged by Saif as a host but very soon Shahrukh got things under control as he confused Kareena a bit with his a number of questions.

Ranbir Kapoor & Konkona Sen - What a pair!!
What an extraordinary combination! You may find Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma a total mismatch, but tis a fact that the duo has been finalized for a film to be produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production. Apparently, both Ranbir and Konkona liked the script a lot and immediately gave their affirmative nod to it.
The film is about the union of a Punjabi heir-apparent and the Bengali bohemian. The movie will be directed by Ayaan Mukherjee who’s a cousin of Kajol. Ayaan has already assisted Ashutosh Gowariker in ‘Swades’ and Karan Johar in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’.
Talking about Ranbir and Konkona being a far fetched match, a source says, “That’s exactly the point. In this Mumbai-based romance about urban relationships, the director needed a pair that seems incompatible. The film is about seeking a level of compatibility in a world gone distinctly out of control.”
Vishakha Singh - The import from Kollywood
Meet one more import from Kollywood. This is Vishakha Singh, who is a north Indian Rajput girl hailing from U.P. She was born is Abu Dhabi & completed her schooling from there. She has acted in number of ads for products like Sunsilk, D’mas Jewelry, Medimix, Motorola Motophone etc.
Vishakha had debuted with a Telgu movie named ‘Gnapakam’. She has now stepped into Bollywood with her recently released movie ‘Humsey Hai Jahaan’. She is paired opposite to the actor & director of the movie Mashhoor Amrohi. When asked about making her career in acting, she said ” I acted and directed lots of stage plays during my school days and always wanted to make career out of something I really love doing. That passion drove me in to films.”
Looking at the pics, we can definitely say that the gal has looks, but how is the acting material inside her, that is yet to be discovered!!

The Devgan couple shoot a special song for ‘Haal-e-Dil’
Amita Pathak, the daughter of Kumar Mangat, is making a debut with his film ‘Haal-e-Dil’. The movie is directed by Ajay’s brother Anil Devgan. Mangat is a close friend and former business manager of Ajay Devgan. No wonder Ajay is taking keen interest in the film.
He was involved deeply in the script and also the auditions for the male lead of the film before Nakuul Mehta and Adhyayan Suman were finalized. Now, to add star value to ‘Haal-e-Dil’ (which features only newcomers) Ajay and Kajol along with Nakuul and Amita have now shot a song for the movie at Filmistan Studios. The song called ‘Oye Hoye’ is a typical Punjabi number and has Kajol in a colorful salwar-kameez while Ajay is dressed in coat and pants.

Deepika Padukone to lead the 28th Indian Day Parade
The gorgeous Deepika Padukone will be leading the 28th Indian Day Parade as Grand Marshal on August 17 to celebrate India’s 61st Independence Day.
This year, Madison Avenue in Manhattan has been chosen as the venue, by Federation of Indian Associations (FIA). this year. Also, present at the occasion will be former Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The parade, biggest celebration of India’s independence outside India, attracts around 50,000 people.
Last year, it was Priyanka Chopra, who had the honor of leading the parade while Indian American astronaut Sunita Williams was the Guest of Honor.

Sunil Shetty gets threatening calls from stuntsman
It is tough time for Sunil Shetty these days. Sunil has been receiving threat calls from a stuntman named Puran Chauhan from Delhi. Chauhan is physically challenged and is a member of Mumbai stuntsmen union. He was hired to work on Shetty’s production ‘Little Godfather’ and had been paid about 2 lakhs for his services. But, Chauhan who had assured the makers that he would help them in getting permission to shoot on railway premises failed to keep up his promise and so was removed from the job.
It was then that he started calling and blackmailing Shetty. When he used abusive language and threatened to harm his family, Sunil lost his cool, abused him back and then, Chauhan recorded the conversation and began blackmailing him.
Shetty has registered a complaint with three different police stations in Mumbai. On the other hand, Chauhan has also filed a complaint against Shetty in Delhi, alleging that the actor-producer has been threatening and abusing him.
Sunil then decided to lie low about the alleged threats only because of his family. He waited until the children’s summer holidays, packed off his entire family for a prolonged vacation until the end of August and then decided to take on the man headlong.
In fact Sunil has given a list of the people who were persuading him to make a compromise with the extortionist to the cops.
“I’m no longer losing sleep because the cops are on the guy’s trail and my family is far away and safe. Once the fear of family flies out, there’s nothing to stop from taking on my tormentors,” says Sunil.
These days Sunil is shooting for Anant Mahadevan’s ‘Red Alert’ in the jungles.
Shamita Shetty in a promotional video for ‘Hari Puttar’
Last week, the Madh Island was all fun as the ravishing Shamita Shetty shot for the promotional video of the film, ‘Hari Puttar-A Comedyof Terrors’, with Zain Khanfor. The song was titled as ‘Tutari Baje’ and the shooting was done in a bungalow situated right at the edge of sea shore. Shamita, looking hot as usual, was all too luring for a ten year old kid.
In the film, Hari Puttar- A Comedy of Terrors, Zain plays a guy who is fond of Shamita. In the video, it is shown that Shamita walks into Zain’s life, his home and what happens after that.
Shamita and her gang of friends kept troubling, pinching and throwing pillows at Zain Khan. The shot was okayed after some nine takes. Zain got impatient with all the pinching and getting pushed around. Every time the director called out for more animation, Zain was seen exclaiming ‘Hey, ours is not an animation film!’.
This is Shamita’s first promotional video for any film and talking about it, Shamita said,
“Yes, I have never shot for a promotional video where I am not acting in the film. There were two reasons, one that the film’s concept and the song is exceptionally good and second that the head of the production, Munish Purii is a dear friend of mine. When he approached me for the song and discussed the details, the way they wanted to shoot it, I was really impressed and readily agreed”.
Saif and Kareena - Jab they didn’t meet at IIFA
Unfortunately, the Saifeena couple who had publicly announced their togetherness at the Lakme Fashion Week last October, sent out all the wrong signals at IIFA. To start with, the duo did not hit Bangkok together, Saif couldn’t be spotted in the audience when Kareena performed on stage, he was not there to cheer her lady when she received the Best Actress Award and Bebo didn’t find him important enough for even a mention in her acknowledgement speech. Instead she said (mark it guys!), “I want to thank three most important people for this award- director Imtiaz Ali, producer Ashtavinayak and…. the most important person, my co-star Shahid Kapoor.”
And not a word about Saif! According to inside sources, Saif was not happy with the skimpy outfit flaunting Kareena’s sexy figure during her performance. He had Manish Malhotra do a rather Indian outfit for her. So, while others like Katrina and Dia Mirza were at their smouldering dress, Kareena’s elaborate dress spoilt the magic for her. Close sources also say that the lack of time together is the culprit for the misunderstanding between the two.

Stars set the ramp afire at IIFA in Bangkok
IIFA awards, 2008, was completed yesterday on June 9, amidst much glamour and glitz. June 7, Saturday night in Bangkok, saw leading cine stars Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ayesha Takia, Zayed Khan and the likes walk the ramp for a charitable event to raise funds for families of workers adversely affected during production of films.
While Kareena did it for Manish Malhotra’s designs, ‘De Taali’ stars, Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh and Ayesha Takia walked the ramp in the works of designer Vikram Phadnis. The lead pair of the much awaited ‘Love Story 2050’, Priyanka and Harman Baweja flared Rohit Bal’s designs and the cast of the forthcoming ‘Mission Istanbul’ including Zayed Khan and Vivek Oberoi , showcased the look of their soon-to-be-released film on ramp. Ms Thailand Universe Khun Farung Yuthithum was another attraction at the event.
The IIFA fashion extravaganza hosted by director Karan Johar and choreographed by Lubna Adams, also showcased designs by Alta Moda, Mufti and Sabyasachi among others.

Last weekend was very special for Bangkok, the capital of Thailand as all the best of Bollywood landed at Thai capital to celebrate IIFA 2008 awards. Reeth - A new discovery from director Surya
‘Aaja Gunah Kar Le‘, the new project from director Surya, will see a new girl Reeth taking her first step in the tinsel town.
Reeth has a nick for dancing and knows varied dance forms like salsa, Belly dancing, lambada, jazz, reggae, samba and Kathak. The Director was on a lookout for a new face for his film opposite Kanish Gangwal and finalized Reeth on seeing her photographs.
Surya, who is a former assistant to Ram Gopal Verma and Sriram, says that he chose Reeth because she had the looks that he had in his mind. In ‘Aaja Gunaah Kar Le’ she plays a very exuberant character and the gal feels the character bears a close resemblance to her.
All the best to the gal from our team! Hope Reeth is not lost in the bandwagon of all the pretty newcomers who step back into darkness after one or two films.
Kunal Kapoor is Mahindra Logan’s choice
Choosy as he is, Kunal Kapoor does have his hands too full of movie assignments at present. But the actor is really quite popular among the new generation and has been aptly roped in as the brand ambassador for Mahindra’s car ‘Logan’.
Talking about the ad campaign of the product, Kunal said, “Yes I am the brand ambassador for Mahindra’s Logan. I have shot around 4 commercials for them which should be on air anytime next week. The storyline of the first commercial revolves around the sense of individuality,” says Kunal.
Mahindra has also got an innovative way of promoting this car through the website ‘http://www.butwhy.in/.’ “Butwhy.in is something which Mahindra wants to bring forth through the Logan campaign. Whenever we go to buy a car there are always some or the other features which we have to compromise for. ‘WHY’ is the question that Mahindra puts forth through this new campaign,” says Kunal.
So we hope that the commercials are aired soon so that we get to see more of this dashing hunk.
Katrina Kaif - The sexiest woman alive!

Beforw you rack your brains analyzing the choices, let us tell you that FHM India, the leading men’s magazine, has already done a poll all across to find out the 100 Sexiest Women in the World! And yes, when they arrived at the result, it was none other than our beautiful Katrina Kaif who bagged the highest number of votes. So, she has been voted as the Sexiest Woman Alive!
Close to her were the Hollywood hotties and superstars Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson, singers Rihanna and Madonna, Bollywood sensations like Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu, supermodels like Adriana Lima and Gisele Bundchen, but the cake went to Miss Kaif.
Megan Fox came second in the poll, Kareena Kapoor was third closely followed by the beautiful Deepika Padukone and sexy Bipasha Basu in the fourth and fifth slot.

Anoushka Shankar breaking free
With an undoubted musical talent running in her blood, Anoushka Shankar, sitar maestro Ravi Shankar’s daughter, is planning to display her acting talents as well.
Planning to make her acting debut in a bilingual film, ‘Breaking Free’, Anosuhka will have our serial kisser Emraan Hashmi as her co-star. The film will be directed by the documentary filmmaker Ahsan Hyder.
Talking about Anoushka as his choice, Hyder reveals, “I wanted someone like Anoushka for the role as the film needs to travel to New Zealand, New York and New Delhi. Anoushka was perfect for the role because she has a musical background and has an accent which goes well with the character.”
Anoushka, was keen on doing the movie next month, but her co-star Emraan Hashmi is busy with ‘Raaz-2’ and he could not allocate dates for his new project.
Housing celebrations for Abhi-Ash
It is golden time for the celebrity Bachchan couple. The love birds are currently making their presence felt at IIFA in Bangkok, but there is something more to their pleasure.
The couple has bought a posh villa property at the prestigious Sanctuary Falls, a resort-style villa community within Jumeirah Golf Estates being developed by Shaikh Holdings. at the hot city of Dubai, thus joining the league of internationally famous couples like David & Victoria Beckham and Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt.

The premiere of Aishwarya’s film ‘Provoked’ was held in Dubai in the presence of Amitabh Bachchan during the 2006 IIFA awards. “I always have fond memories of Dubai and I’m looking forward to enjoying more special moments during weekend getaways,” said Aishwarya.
Abhishek added,
“Dubai is special to us not just as a place where we enjoy great warmth and generosity in terms of love and acceptance from people, but it’s become a remarkable city and one that’s so close to home.”

“My character is extremely entertaining, but she is very different from me. I’m educated and I’ve never been a giggly girl. Even her body language and mannerisms are very different. It was difficult as I had to learn how to act like an airhead bimbo,” says Amisha.
Amisha also has a sizzling number with Saif Ali Khan in the film about which Amisha has got lots to say, “A lot is happening in the song as it’s the turning point in the film. It’s the first film in the history of Indian cinema that has a song that has lip sync under water.”

The premiere of ‘Sex and the City’ on June 4, 2008, held at PVR, Juhu, Mumbai, witnessed the presence of several Bollywood stars. Tania Zaetta, the Boollywood actress, who was allegedly accused of having sexual affair with Australian soldiers in Afghanistan, must have taken sign of relief after the statement of Australia’s military chief acquitting her of charges and thus proved her innocent.
The chief said the charges against her of having sex with soldiers while during the entertainment trip was baseless. He further pledged to apologize to the star. Her name appeared in the defense department’s briefing in which she was charged for having sex affair with troops of Special Forces at a military base in Uruzgan province in April.
Air Chief Marshall Angus Houston reported to a parliamentary committee hearing in Canberra, “There was no substance to the allegations,” he further said, “I will obviously apologize and express my deepest regret about any hurt she has suffered.'’
Zaetta had already denied the charges leveled against her, however, military officials are enquiring about how the confidential information of military report was passed on to a press reporter.

Vivek Oberoi, who is in the news for his fitness sessions and retro look in Apoorva Ladakhia’s ‘Mission Istanbul’ has deviated his identity from just an actor to a stunt star.
The film which is extensively shot in hilly areas of Turkey asked for some stunts. The duo, Zayed and Vivek performed a stunt called stupendous feat, in which they had to jump from a 40 storeyed tower. Both of them were apprehensive, initially, but then did the stunt in the first shot and decided to go ahead and do the shot seven times as it gave them an adrenaline high.
“The film has quite some stunts and mostly, it was our director Apoorva who would first attempt the stunt since he is the adventurous sorts and only if he was sure, we would go ahead with it. In certain cases, he opted for duplicates. But when it came to jumping from the 40-storeyed tower, Apoorva wasn’t really up for it. However, for me and Zayed, it seemed like the best opportunity to establish our credentials as stunt heroes. And so, we did it.” says Vivek when asked about the stunts. He added,
“Though we had developed goose bumps before the first take, grappling from the height was so much fun, that we decided to give six more takes”.
Nice attitude….way to go dude!!
